AP Exams
Standard administration AP Exam dates are 5/6-17, 2019. Students with conflicts in dates should visit the AP Late Testing Form button below and complete the form. All students enrolled in an AP class are expected to take the corresponding AP Exam.
We must have a waiver form completed for EVERY student AP testing with us, regardless of whether they are CMS students or not. Also, if you qualify for the waiver and are a CMS student, you can take additional exams at no charge and can also take make up/late exams without penalty. We must have the appropriate and COMPLETE forms to order the exams. If you are not a CMS student but will test with us, if you qualify for a College Board Fee Waiver, please let us know. There is a fee reduction through College Board but you are required to complete any required documents for them. See collegeboard.org for details.
Advanced Placement (AP) Exams are given during the first two full weeks of May onsite at Merancas Middle College High School. The schedule can be found here: AP Exam Schedule 2019.
The Advanced Placement exams are in May but the planning phase is already underway. Even though CMS pays the exam fee for all students enrolled in the AP courses ($141 for AP Seminar and AP Research exams, $93 for all other exams), students must fill out a registration form. These will be given out during AP classes during the week of (TBA) along with the AP Bulletin for Students and Parents. They will be due (TBA).
The contact person for the AP exams is Tonya Morris, our testing coordinator. She can be reached by phone 980-343-0035 or email at [email protected].
There are many policies and restrictions that are placed on AP examinations. Students will receive more information through the AP Bulletin for Students and Parents. However, you can find a wealth of information in the College Board's AP website. Your student MUST have a College Board account in order to receive scores for AP Exams. No score reports are sent to the school.

ACT Accommodations
For students with accommodations planning to take the ACT at Merancas on February (TBA) (11th graders only) ), a parent/guardian or student must go online to download and print the "Consent to Release Information to ACT" form.
Sign the form, write the ACT date that the student will register/has registered for on the form, and return it in a sealed envelope labeled to the attention of Tonya Morris, test coordinator. Ms. Morris will then complete the ACT Accommodations Request and notify you when a decision is made.
The deadline to request accommodations for ACT is January TBA. Be aware that it can take up to 7 weeks to receive a decision, and we ask that you give us at least 1 week to process your application, so please plan accordingly.
Students who receive approval for accommodations on the ACT may use their approval to streamline a request for the same accommodations for a future ACT test administration. Ms. Morris must be contacted in order to update the student's record in the Test Accessibility and Accommodations (TAA) system so the student will be associated with the new test and test administration.
Any student whose accommodations are NOT approved by ACT will have two options:
1. The student can choose to take the ACT with no accommodations, and will receive a score that CAN be reported to colleges.
2. The student can take the ACT with their State-Allowed accommodations (accommodations that are in the student’s IEP or 504 Plan that were not approved by ACT), and will receive scores that are NOT able to be reported to colleges.

ACT Workkeys (February 2019)
"ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring “real world” skills that employers believe are critical to job success. These skills are valuable for any occupation being considered and at any level of education." (Source: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/act/)
In the 2012-2013 academic year, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) incorporated the ACT WorkKeys assessment into the curriculum as an accountability measure. All North Carolina high school seniors who are identified as Career and Technical Education (CTE) concentrators must take the assessment. A student is considered a CTE concentrator if they complete a four-course CTE sequence prior to graduation. The ACT WorkKeys assesses career readiness skills and may be recognized as an industry credential. State data reports can be accessed at: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/act/
